Red Hat Linux 6.0 (GNOME).

Ok... I have a fix for this one. The original bug was introduced by me on 10/26/99. It looks like both gagan and dougt added patches which fixed *some* of the problems... Unfortunately, they did not address the root problem :-( I need to regress my fix against the bugs that they fixed with their patches. ie. bug #19167, #16801, #17282, #17682, #17690, #18616, #17393

I've given this the super-anal verification treatment given rpotts's comments below. Using the 2000011108 Mac OS/Win32 & 2000011110 Linux builds, I can no longer reproduce this bug. Moreso, the two bugs marked as duplicates are also no longer reproducible on any platform. Thus verified as fixed.
