205012 - Login error if connect to IMAP proxy servers

I cannot connect to my usual IMAP server, that is a IMAP proxy server 
The error: the PASS command did not succeed.Mail server box.mail.it responded:
invalid proxy password.
The login user name is in the format [e-mail]
With the previous version of mozilla i have no problem and via web interface
anche via Outlook works well.

Reproducible: Always

Please see bug 205003 for this problem.
That bug is about POP3, but the problem is the same and the reason too.

I don't think it's common, no. We can disable cram-md5 with the same pref that
we disabled it for pop3, however. I can code that up.

duping against 208026 - here's the comment in that bug: "with tomorrow's trunk
1.5 build, can you bring up the account settings for your imap server that's
causing the problem, click on server settings, and uncheck the "use secure
authentication" box. Then, to be safe, restart, and try again.The problem should
go away."
