User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507 Mozilla doesnt auto-upgrade / install the flash plugin. The user must navigate a bunch of seporate windows and search thru and point to plugin directories etc. It seems that if mozilla is going to overgrow the other browsers its gotta be Easier than the other browsers, not vice versa. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install a fresh versioin of mozilla on computer. 2.try to visit a site with flash content. 3.It will ask to click to install plugin. 4.Click Download plugin from the page you were just redirected to. 5.Save file on desktop. 6.run installation and place plugin in plugin directory. 7.after installation is successfull try to revisit flash site. 8.ERROR: mozilla.exe - Bad Image The application or DLL c:\Programfiles\mozilla.org\Mozilla\plugins\Npswf16.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette. Actual Results: Cant view flash content after installing plugin "succesfully" Expected Results: View Flash content fast and easy. For example: Even when ie4.0 , the version thats bundled with win98se sees any flash content all you have to do is click "YES" and the new plugin is auto installed. No searching directories, no viewing other sites, no saving and copying files ... you just click " yes " and it all works.
I can confirm this bug. Planned to post it myself. I've installed Flash 6 3three times with no change although installer shows "success" each time at end. Flash 6 also appears on my Mozilla plugin page, but again - no effect is noted in browsing and I can't view Flash media. Easy test: go to USAtoday.com homepage. In upper-right corner, where the "inside news" pictures normally scroll through actively, transitioning from one image to the next (in IE w/Flash enabled), it instead says "For enchanced presentation, Flash 6." Successfully installing Flash 6 (as shown by installer) elicits no change in this presentation on USAtoday.com
