User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507
If you mistype or enter a domain name that does not exist, the alert dialog box
that appears causes the browser to crash. You cannot get the browser to do
anything unless you close and reopen the browser.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Type command-shift-l
2. Enter an invalid server name (Ex: idonotexist.com)
3. Browser will crash on alert dialog
Actual Results:
The browser crashed, requiring the app to be closed and reopened.
Expected Results:
I should have been able to press the ok button and continue browsing.
Modern theme, using OS X 10.2.6. This bug has existed since 1.3b, and still
persists through to 1.4b.
Bug also occurs in Mozilla build ID 2003051513 with the Orbit 3+1 theme.

Can you please attach (via the "create new attachment" link in this bug) the OS
X crash log for this crash ?
Severity: major → critical
Keywords: crash
Unfortunately, I misphrased it. There is no actual application crash (and
therefore no crashlog.) The application just locks up and fails to respond to
any further input. The window cannot be closed, nor any new windows opened. In
fact, all menu options are greyed out. Sorry for the bad choice of words.

WorksForMe using FizzillaMach/2003-05-16-08-trunk. An error dialog sheet is shown.
S. Frost, can you reproduce this problem using another Mozilla user profile?
First, yes I can. I completely deleted my profile and regenerated it from
scratch. The problem persists.
Second, its not that the dialog does not appear, but that the dialog will not go
away once it has appeared. (Again, sorry if I phrased it poorly.) Once the
error/alert message has appeared, the program locks up. I am presented with an
error message with an ok button. Clicking ok does nothing. At that point, you
can't close the window, access any menus, open the prefs panel, etc.
I have confirmed that it appears under both the classic and modern themes. I
have also confirmed that this bug does not exist in the Windows version (I have
a Windows box with Mozilla on it as well.) I would also note that this bug did
not seem to appear until the Mach-O versions were released (which I beleive
started with 1.3b for official releases.) I have yet to test a nightly version
for the bug, so I will do so in the near future.
Ok, testing of the latest nightly complete. The bug appears wiped out as of
build 2003051808, which I tested moments ago.
