User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030506 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030506 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 Some images appear with courrupt/incorrect colours, If downloaded via wget and viewed in an external viewer (gqview and xv tested) it is correct. Also saving the image from Mozilla/Firebird results in an image which is still incorrect in an external viewer. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to the given URL (or http://www.theregister.co.uk/favicon.ico) 2. 3. Actual Results: Image is corrupted with bad colours Expected Results: Displayed an image with correct colours This has been seen both in a recent Mozilla < 1 month old, and Firebird
Any chance that you can attach a screenshot? Looking at galcivanim.gif I don't see any difference between mozilla and xv for galcivanim.gif. The image is really dark so it is hard to tell. There also should be any difference in the file if we download it and if wget does. Do you see a difference (using zdiff) between galcivanim.gif that is downloaded via wget .vs. one that is downloaded via mozilla? Quick Question: do you have Pipelining turned on? Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Http Networking
This is a screen grab of what the galciv.com image looks like in Firebird
A small correction about my report. It would seem that saving it from Firebird and then viewing the saved image in xv works (though I could have sworn I tried it and it failed before - I guess I'm slowly going insane, or something). Pipelining is turned off. Could it possibly have to do with the fact that all three computers I've tested this on have ATI cards (ATI Mobility and two Radeon 7200s)? Other details: Xserver is version 4.2.1, running at 16bpp (I'll try it 24 in a while). zdiff: Running zdiff shows that the files differ. The size of the image saved via moz is approx half that of the one saved via wget. Just tested image on a colleagues computer running Moz 1.0 on an ATI Rage XL, xfree86 4.1.0, and it displays correctly.
Apologies for this bug. Turns out is bogus. The culprit is actually the filtering proxy I use (privoxy). Once again many apologies for wasting peoples time, and I promise I shall wear a brown paper bag for the rest of the day...
