In Mozilla Firebird the box is only 2 letters wide - it works but you can't read
anything except the first 2 letters.
Other browsers work correctly.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to page
2.Box displays incorrectly
3.

Actual Results:  
Box should be about 40 characters wide is only 2 characters wide.

Expected Results:  
Box shoudl display about 40 characters wide.

Internet Explorer, Netscape 7.0 and Communicator 4.8 all display the box correctly.

also has this problem, ir renders the page same way fb 20030519 does.

could some wiht latest Mozilla build test it, then maybe Product -> Browser

downloaded a new build (new profile, clean install, etc.) and the box is the
right lenght now,

I've tried three new installs this AM. Removing (why isn't there a "remove" list 
for this program?) everything I could find:
Firebird Mozilla directory & subs,
Phoenix directory & subs,
Windows/Application/Firebird and Phoenix directories & subs
Couple of registry entries
 and I'm still getting the same problem.
Also why does MozillaFirebird have to recreate a Phoenix directory with .DAT 
files?

This is WFM using both MozillaFirebird and SeaMonkey Gecko/20030525 on Windows
NT 4.0. if I get the chance I'll retest on a XP box.

John, your installer request is already handled by bug #182409. There also a
link exists to a web installer provided by Sebastien - perhaps you want to give
it a try until a decision about a windows installer has been made in the
mentioned bug.
Concerning your profile problem: the easiest way is to create a _new_ profile.
This can be done by starting Moz. Firebird with the option "-p" which brings up
the profile manager. There you can click "Manage Profiles" and then create a new
one, which should then be used to retest your problem.

So I'd suggest to doenload the latest nightly, unzip the content in a _new_
directory, create a shortcut for MozillaFirebird.exe on your desktop where you
call Moz. firebird with option -p and give it another try!

Back again.
Thought I was on the latest build. Found new site and downloaded .6 from there.
Total (as far as I can tell) new install, nothing from previous version(s) left
including in registry and the problem persists. 
Other browsers, IExplorer, Communicator 4.8 & Netscape 7 display correctly. 
As an aside if you run N7 & Firebird at the same time they get confused. Both
end up on the same sites, etc...
Should that be a seperate bug report?

Thanks for the help, but that's what I do (except for the -P) we all use one
profile here. I also delete windows\application data\phoenix and have Mozilla
(but then I have to start over on N7) plus search and delete registry entrys.

John, the _latest_ nightly can always be found using the following link:

You should always use the latest nightly build before filing any bugs. So when
you mention you found a "new" site and downloaded 0.6 there what do you mean by
"0.6"? The latest milestone? If so this is not the latest nightly and you should
try the above mentioned link to download it. In "Help"->"About" you should the
read something like "Gecko/20030526".

Anyhow I'm now on a windows 98 box and will give it another try just after
installing the latest nightly. 
Concerning the second problem you mentioned you should file a seperate bug to
avoid confusion!

Well, I'm now on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030526
Mozilla Firebird/0.6 and still WFM. 
Just thinking about your comment #3 where you mention a Phoenix directory with
*.DAT files... Where does Moz. Firebird create a Phoenix directory on your
machine? Still got the impression that there's something wrong with your
environment... What about the "-p" thing? Did you checked it with a vanilla
profile, without extensions and themes and all that kind of stuff?

20030526 cleared the bug on a "new" install. :^)
 But there's more:

1) "0.6"? The latest milestone came from this site
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firebird/release-notes.html
Seemed to be reasonable since the last version I downloaded from
http://ftp27f.newaol.com/pub/firebird/nightly/latest-trunk/
was 20030525 and it was still displaying the problem.
The one from above is (I find out now) 20030516 (and of course it has the problem). 

2) "Where does Moz. Firebird create a Phoenix directory?" 
I have IExplorer, Communicator 4.8, Netscape 7.0 and Firebird installed on this
"family" machine.
The first time, EVERY time, I run Firebird (here) it installs the following
directories and files:
C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla (empty directory)
C:\Windows\Application Data\Phoenix with pluginreg.dat and registry.dat
C:\Windows\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles
C:\Windows\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default
C:\Windows\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\pkcjzp0n.slt
C:\Windows\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\pkcjzp0n.slt\Cache
C:\Windows\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\pkcjzp0n.slt\chrome

Now when I run Netscape 7.0 (it thinks for the first time since \Mozilla is
empty) it'll create 
C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla (already there) with registry.dat
C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles
C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\No Cookies (or profile I select)
C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\No Cookies\dh0mfy1.slt
C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\No Cookies\dh0mfy1.slt\Cache &
crome & Mail & News

I should point out above is with both \Mozilla and \Phoenix deleted and purged
from Recycle bin.

John, thanks for clarification!
Since your first link points to the 0.6 release you'll always get the latest
milestone, but not the latest nightly. So in order to avoid confusion I'd kindly
ask you to re-test always with the latest nightly taken from the link I provided
in comment #9 - you still can use the version you find most stable, but if you
encounter a problem it should be re-testet with latest nightly before filing a bug.

Now your other two problems are dupes of bug #171561 and bug #203077 - hence no
seperate bugs need to be filed for these!

=> resolving this one as WFM
