Build Identifier: mozilla-win32-1.3.1-installer.exe, downloaded from mozilla.org

I uninstalled previous version (1.1), downloaded the 218KB installer, installed 
only the browser component in clean directory, but chose option to download 
other components in case i want to add them, and it started up just fine!
I exited the browser, and double clicked on the desktop icon. I get a square 
orange window, with www.mozilla.org on the bottom line, and then it winks out 
of existence, after 5 seconds or so.   

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:  
the orange square appears momentarily, then disappears

Expected Results:  
start the browser.

Just as the orange square disappears, there is a bright white flash, which 
disappears before I can discern any details.  
OS = Win 2000  v5.0 Build 2195 SP2

Please change 'Components' to 'Installer', imho that is a better start for
solving your problem. Can you start by clicking on the exe file? Can you start
from the command line, creating a new profile, just for testing? Did you have
extensions in your previous installation?

I believe that I have found the problem.  
The transition from Mozilla orange square to the browser is interpreted as a 
pop-up by "stop-the-pop",  a pop-up blocker installed on the system.  

I can successfully reach the browser by holding down the ctl key, and right 
clicking on the square.  This is not the usual technique that the blocker uses, 
but it works. 

Conclusions: 
Mozilla used a technique that interacts adversely with other commonly used 
software.  
There is no implementation bug. 
You might characterize this as a design bug.

mboyd, is this issue with Mozilla being treated as a popup still going on in new
versions of both Mozilla and the popup blocker? If so, I'll confirm the bug
although I have an inkling the developers will blame the popup blocking program
and not Mozilla. Either way, any new information would be appreciated, thanks.

Resolving invalid, it's been 5 months with no confirmation if this problem still
occurs. It also sounds like it's the fault of this other "popup blocker" being
overzealous rather than Mozilla's problem. But please reopen if you disagree.
