User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030529 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030529 Recently, I am experiencing crashes in Mozilla when attempting to send mail. I'm unable to reproduce this at will (it happens only once in about 20 messages sent, and seems to be random). When crashes happen during the sending of mail, the entire mail message is LOST. Gone. It's not in Sent, nor is it in Drafts. Very frustrating! It would be very nice if email could be auto-saved to the Drafts folder every X minutes. Also, as the first thing done when the user gives the command to send the mail, an auto-save could take place, to help mitigate the risk of a crash when sending email. When a message is successfully sent to the server and copied to the Sent folder, it could then be removed from the Drafts folder. If something bad happens, and the message never gets sent, then it would remain in the Drafts folder, ready to be retried by the user. No more data loss would occur. People would be happier. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Write an email. 2. Send it. 3. Mozilla crashes during send. 4. Mail is lost! Gnash teeth then retype mail from scratch. Actual Results: The actual crash is random and unfortunately not reproducible. I am suggesting this auto-save feature as a safeguard against this and other crashes that might happen in the future when sending messages. Expected Results: Mozilla should auto-save the composed email message to the Drafts folder. It should auto-save every X minutes (I suggest a default of 5 minutes). It should also auto-save when the user gives the command to send the message. If Mozilla crashes during send, the email is not lost, because it's still in the Drafts folder and can be resent. If Mozilla does not crash and the email is sent successfully, the email can then be moved from Drafts to Sent. Ordinary computer, running Mozilla 1.4 RC, with the Modern theme (the theme provided with Mozilla, not a separate download). Email server is IMAP. Here's a crash ID that happened when I was trying to send a message. It is an example of why this auto-save feature would be a good idea. TB20683986H
