User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507 When browsing using a proxy server over a corporate VPN connection: clicking on a link results in an ad or image on the current page being loaded (isntead of the link URL opening). Hitting "reload" a number of times (2-5) results in the requested URL being loaded. No problems when browsing using the proxy within the firewall. No problems with direct connect from home... Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. VPN connection to a network 2. Manual configuration of the browser to use a proxy (T1 line) 3. Browse to (say) www.theregister.co.uk. 4. Click on a link - (sometimes) get behaviour described in the details Actual Results: Ad/gif image loaded into browser Expected Results: Opened URL Sorry, no idea if this happens with any VPN client, or just the Cisco client used by Oracle UK Ltd. As a Software Engineer, I would be prepared to help out in resolving this issue if (i.e. debugging the code) someone is prepared to point me in the right direction... I currently have no experience with developing for Open Source Projects (but I do know C/C++!).
Have you tried it with Http/1.0 for Proxies (in the Mozilla Networking prefs) ?
Reporter: does this still happen with a recent nightly build ? Can you test matti's suggestion ? Thanks.
Hi, I've tried setting Http/1.0 for Proxies, and also cleared out the browser cache. The result is that the problem occurs less frequently, but still happens. I'm using Mozilla 1.6: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113 (sorry haven't had time to try a later build yet). I've also tried setting the cache to query the web-site for every request, again the problem is reduced, but does not go away (still get images sometimes, rather than the target page). Thanks for the suggestions. Please let me know if there is anything else I could try.
