After installing both the calendar and spell checker Mozilla either didn't recognize the installation, or displayed an error prompting me to run regxpcom.exe which also didn't work.

Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507
Build Identifier: ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.4rc1/
I installed the Calendar plugin on 1.4 RC1 and when I went to use a message
popped up prompting me to run regxpcom.exe, when I did so regxpcom.exe told me
it was unable to do anything because of restrictions. I needed to downgrade to
Moz 1.4Beta because I need the calendar so I had to go back to 1.4 Beta and
everything ran fine.
I also tried installing the spell checker for the mail client and Mozilla simply
did not recognize that it was installed regardless of how many times I tried,
however, after rolling back to 1.4 Beta it recognized the installation with no
problem.
I have not tried any other plugins outside of those two.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the plugin (Spell checker of Calendar)
2. Restart the browser
3. Try to run the plugin
Actual Results:
For calendar, a pop up with the regxpcom.exe message. For the spell checker
nothing.
Expected Results:
For the calendar it should have been able to run without any error messages, and
the spell checker should have shown up when composing an e-mail message.

This are no plugins because this are addons !
The spellchecker problem is no problem for bugzilla because this addon is from
spellchecker.mozdev.org (you use the correct spellchecker version ?)
-> Calendar (Do you use an up-to-date calendar version ?)

I'm convinced more that is an issue with how Mozilla handles plugins. I'm
noticing consistency in the fact that they don't run. There is obviously
something different between 1.4b and 1.4rc1 which alters the functionality of
plugins.

They doesn't run if they use unfrozen interfaces. spellchecker is known to use
those interfaces and this is not Mozilla's fault that you must upgrade if you
use a new build.
spellchecker bugs are invalid unless the spellchecker developer reports a bug
and/or we integrate the spellchecker in Mozilla.

That still doesn't explain the Calendar issues.

Calendar work for me in Windows XP, Mozilla 1.4rc1 and calendar 20030508.
Could you try again with a clean install (and may be a new profile).

Calendar works fine for me, though the install links were backwards for a while
which may have been your problem.
