Would it be possible in the future to make an icon pop up in the notification
area in gnome and / or kde when new mail arives, like the icon in the systray in
windows?

While I'm at this: my mail client (Mozilla 1.5a) will do nothing but beep (the
ugly system beep) when I get mail, no matter how many times I tell it to play
some nice wav sound :(

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set a sound in the Mail Pref
2. Flame someone on some messageboard, so you get a warning from the admin by mail
3. Hear your computer beep in agony, instead of playing a nice wav ;)

Actual Results:  
It beeped.

Expected Results:  
Play some cool sound.

1) Gnome and KDE are not the only graphical environment / windows manager available.

2) Custom wav is working without problem on my computer since bug 177280 was fixed.

I will look to see if your bug is not a duplicate of another one.

Indeed they are not, but they do have a common notification area format (GAIM
and LMule use the same code for their KDE and Gnome notification area icons if I
understood correctly), so it would be a nice start :)

As for the wav-sound, even when I 'preview' I only hear a beep...

after recompiling Mozilla, the sound works find :P
