User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030612 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030612 The "View: Unread" mode displays zero messages for a "Sent" messages folder (perhaps because sent messages are marked as read per 198087?). The view mode should really be a per-mailbox preference, so that one could have View: All set for the "Sent" mailbox, use View: Unread for one's INBOX, and perhaps View: Important for other mailboxes containing older archived mail. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select a "Sent" IMAP mailbox. 2. Pull down the View tab and choose "Unread". 3. Actual Results: No messages displayed. Expected Results: The View: Unread preference isn't very useful for a Sent mailbox.
This is just how MailViews (the "View tab" you mention) work. Once you set a MailView, it's in place until you turn it off. I personally wouldn't like to see Sent messages being left Unread. If you use View|Threads|Unread, that setting will be stored on a per-folder basis (and does not imply a threaded display, by the way). (If you think the behavior of MailViews and the View|Messages vs. View|Threads menus is confusing, please see bug 237164, also bug 237165.)
