i've seen isolated cases of this problem reported against some os x builds (bug 196285 & bug 198664 for example) in the past, and most of the time it seems like a font problem, but don't really know a specific cause or reasoning. However, Alerto... (a) does it continue to happen if you change you font prefs to a different font (b) does it continue to happen with a clean profile -> GFX:Win32

When you use schemas in a XUL document, to use " <emph> text </emph> " makes the emphasised text to overlap the regular text at the right of "text"
I am using now Netscape 7.1 and Mozilla 1.4 The bug repeats in both browsers. So far, the biggest difference is in the spelling option in Messenger.
Following advice of comment # 5 , I changed some font types and in some cases it improved the appearance. Seems a little ramdom the results, but it means that there are problems with the fonts. Are they have been tested before placing them in the list of available fonts?
