User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 After I am finished with a downloaded file, it would be nice to be able to remove it from both the download list and the hard disk. Currently, to do so I have to select "Show File Location", and then find the file in the Windows Explorer window. I then have to go back to Download Manager to delete the file from the download list. Also, if I accidentally delete the item from the list first, then I have an "orphaned" file wasting hard disk space. I would prefer to have a way to delete the file from disk without having to leave the Download Manager. A few suggestions on how to implement this: 1. Add a "Remove from disk" button 2. Add a "Remove from list and disk" button 3. When "Remove from list" is chosen, ask the user if they want to also remove the file from disk. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Whoa. I think this is a really bad idea. If we do go with it, there MUST be a preference to disable this behavior and it should NOT be enabled by default. Just my .02.
Why is it a bad idea?
Similiar bug is Bug 141998 (although it is hard to see that this bug is about to delete the downloades files).
just to understand your request a bit better: what would be a scenario in which you want to delete a file directly from disk after downloading?
(In reply to comment #4) > just to understand your request a bit better: what would be a scenario in which > you want to delete a file directly from disk after downloading? Thank you for taking the time to respond to my request. There are two commonn scenarios where I have wanted to delete a file from both the disk and the download manager list: 1. I downloaded a document and read it. Now I no longer need that document 2. I downloaded a setup program and ran it. Now I no longer need the setup program.

Maybe you could ask the author of the Download Manager Tweak extension if he could implement your idea.i think not everyone want these function .So it could be implemented by extension.

I don't think the download manager should have this function by default, but this would, as comment #9 suggests, be something an extension can implement easily.
