When I try to send mail, the "Sending Messages" box appears saying "Status:
Connecting to server, Progress: " The program never progresses further, and
the message doesn't get sent. Though nothing freezes and there's no problem
closing the box.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compose a message.
2. Press send.
Actual Results:
The "Sending messages" box appeared, and did nothing.

Expected Results:
After "connecting to server," it should eventually have said something
like, "connected, username and password verified, message sent." And sent the
message, of course.

My smtp server is the same as the pop one (pop.***.com for both). I haven't got
any other address to test the program on.

bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
