pop up ad preferences in mozilla affect internet explorer, and can't be reset

User-Agent:       Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; BCD2000)
Build Identifier: v.1.3.1

when  mozilla 1.3.1 was installed for the first time, i was able to set pop up 
ad's to show on a web page as "AD". however, i can't reset this option once set 
and this option is now also operating when i use internet explorer. what is the 
fix? i want the two program to act deferently for testing purposes.

what componet of I.E. was hijacked? and how do i fix this?

Please clarify how you set pop-ups to show as "AD."  Did you edit a text file? 
If so, what was it?  Was it in the windows directory, in Mozilla's profile or
program directory, or somewhere else?  Have you used the mozilla pop-up manager
listed under Tools?

We do not hijack any IE components.  Please specify clear step-by-step
instructions to reproduce (leaving them blank like you did is not particularly
helpful in determining the problem.... in particular, it could be that you are
only testing one site and the site has changed).
