User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030629 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030629 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 After going to http://www.ppshk.com/hkt/revamp/english/main.html, I press the Logon button. The browser will then have a popup window which will allow you to enter PPS Account Number and password. However, after popup window appears, the browser will freeze for a long time before it displays the whole page. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Go to http://www.ppshk.com/hkt/revamp/english/main.html 2.Press Logon button 3. Actual Results: The browser will freeze. If you are patient enough, the browser will work again after minutes and display the whole page. Expected Results: The browser won't freeze and display the page at once. After freezing, this bug won't happen in that session. In order to reproduce the problem, I need to restart the browser again.

WFM - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030629 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 Java is loaded for this page. Freezing should be related to java loading ? NB : home made build, gcc 3.2 and JRE 1.4.2

WFM on WinXP Moz 2003062708
Yes, it should relate to java loading. I disable java and then the browser doesn't freeze for that site. My java is 1.4.1_03.

Well, I was thinking about it. So now you can : - upgrade to JRE 1.4.2 - verify your datas are not too fragmented. This looks like a heavy-fragmented hard disk, but not a firebird bug ;-P
I'll try JRE 1.4.2 later. I defrag my hard drive every week so that it's not fragmented. It's not my hard drive problem. In my computer, IE takes less than 2s to display the popup page with the same JVM. I suppose it is the problem of how firebird loads java.
I've updated to JRE 1.4.2 There's no problem for this version of java
sorry for making a mistake After I install java 1.4.2, it's not working properly. Now I found that the problem still exists for JRE 1.4.2
I think it's not related to bug 211054, although the description looks similar. This bug is due to java rather than popup.
No longer depends on: 211054

Well it freezes for a few seconds for me (current win2k trunk mozilla, JRE 1.4.2-03), but that's normal for the first time I hit a page with a java applet. John Paul - are you still seeing a very long freeze on this page with a recent mozilla build? i.e. longer than the delay that's normal for java loading the first time. For example, if you open the browser and go to http://weather.noaa.gov/radar/national.html and click one of the "loop" links on the left, is the delay there shorter?

no response from reporter. this sounds like the difference between loading MS JVM and the Sun JVM, which is definitely slower, but that's not a bug. reporter - if you can still reproduce this with current versions of JVM and Mozilla, please feel free to reopen this bug, and please answer my previous question. thanks.
