User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 I just installed the Mozilla upgrade. When I click on the browser icon two things happen. (1) It loads Mozilla mail, not the browser; and (2) it messes up my desktop. All the desktop colors go off, the wallpaper gets very grainy. I cannot delete Mozilla and start over because I have a lot of accumulated mail that I cannot afford to lose. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on browser icon on desktop 2. 3. Actual Results: Mozilla loaded Mozilla mail, not the browser. Also, messed up the desktop such that colors are off and the wallpaper is grainy. Expected Results: It should have loaded the browser and not messed with the desktop None in particular
For the issue of mail coming up instead of the browser, look under Edit>Preferences "Appearance" 'When Mozilla starts Up ppen'. Make sure that Navigator is checked (and uncheck Mail & Newsgroups if you don't want it to open on start). Not sure about what's causing problems with your desktop. Your e-mail is stored in your profile directory, which is seperate from the directory that Mozilla installs into (as explained in http://www.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla1.4/installation.html). so uninstalling does not affect your mail and preferences.
try right clicking on the mozilla icon, opening Properties and making sure "Target" field says something like: "C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozilla.exe", and not: "C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozilla.exe" -mail also for desktop problem try upgrading to 1.5, I think something related has been fixed in 1.5.
