User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030612 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030612 I recently tried upgrading to 1.4. After installation it will not start. Uninstalled and tried earlier releases. rc2 is ok rc3 is not. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: nothing Expected Results: started
Would you mind giving any useful information? Did you install into an empty dirctory or over another installation? Does Mozilla crash on startup? If yes, if it crashes on xpcom.dll, this is a dupe of bug 205277. Reporter, if you won't provide us with further information, this bug report must be marked INVALID.
I installed over the previous installation (1.4rc1) . After reading the info on the website regarding xpcom.dll I tried installing it to an empty directory after uninstalling the previous installation. I had the same result. I get no indication of what the problem is as it just doesn't start, no message no nothing! 1.4 rc2 works fine. Cheers RH
It seems I have the same problem. I installed rc3 over rc1. No reboot, machine kept running. Could not start external applications, so for example PDF files would not load in the browser anymore. Next installed the release. Also no reboot. Same behaviour as rc3, i.e. external apps could not load. Rebooted to see if that problem would go away, but now Mozilla would not start anymore. Tried various things as making sure directory was removed, removing profile directory, removing entries in registry. Simply does not work. Next installed 1.3, worked fine. Machine has enough free space (10GB). 224MB memory. Windows 2000, build 2195, service pack 2. AMD Duron processor, ~1120MHz. Mozilla does not even seem to startup. In a command line window you can type mozilla.exe and it returns immediately. Proving any flags does not seem to help.
See bug 211694 http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211694 I think it's the same problem. Check it out and mark this as duplicate if you think it is.
Reporter: Does 1.4 final work on win95, if it is installed in a frsh new directory and with a new profile? If not, have you mozilla QuickStart enabled?
No response since over 1 month marking as wfm. (tested on win95)
