User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030630 WebWasher/4.4 fcs Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030630 After installing Adobe Acrobat Reader and copying the file nppdf.so into the plugins directory, opening a pdf file with mozilla causes a very heavy load on the X server. Here's some output from top to show this: PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME CPU COMMAND 22531 root 17 0 304M 47M 4144 R 90.4 2.3 6:09 0 X 25627 berndt 9 0 35564 34M 16368 S 13.9 1.7 1:00 1 mozilla-bin The plugin works, the pdf file is displayed correctly, however, the heavy load reults in reduced responsiveness of the system. This problem occurs with several versions of Acrobat Reader: 5.0.5, 5.0.7. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: I use Redhat 9 1. Install the latest mozilla builds from rawhide (eg. 1.4-11) 2. Install Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0.7 3. Copy nppdf.so from the acroread installation to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins 4. open a pdf file, eg. http://cnls.lanl.gov/~shashkov/papers/burt.pdf Actual Results: The X server is under heavy load. Expected Results: After rendering the output there should be no significant load on the X server.
I have been having this problem with any GTK2 build of mozilla on RedHat, even compiling from source. The problem is also reported here: http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?50@244.av7va3zU1rY.2@.1de8e5bf
duplicate for bug #198954 ?

Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it.
