User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030312 Build Identifier: Installed from mozilla-win32-1.4-installer.exe I was running 1.3 and wanted to upgrade to 1.4. The 1.4 installer ran correctly and then launched mozilla. Immediately there is a Dr. Watson. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling, but the result was still the same. I then unistalled 1.4 and reinstalled 1.3 and that works. The crash appears to happen if mozilla is configured to start the browser or also mail/news. I base this conclusion purely on the mozilla configuration, there isn't any window displayed before the crash. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install 1.4 2. 3. Actual Results: Crash without talkback agent. Expected Results: Start up normally.
Does Mozilla crash at xpcom.dll? Did you delete the program folder completely? Did you have any plugins installed?
Reporter : if bug 200623 comment 4 sounds familiar to you, then dupe this bug to bug 195600. The comment mentioned above should also help you to solve your problem.
I am having the same problem. Mozilla 1.3.1 and 1.4 both crash immediately upon opening. (Mozilla 1.3 does not crash.) With 1.3.1 and 1.4, after running the installation program, the browser opens. A message box pops up asking if I want to make Mozilla the default browser. Before I can reply, the program crashes. If I try to open the browser again, it also crashes. Prior to installing the any new Mozilla version, I uninstalled the old version and deleted the "\Program Files\mozilla.org" folder. After uninstalling the new version and reinstalling version 1.3, I can run 1.3 without any problems. My OS is "Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 1".
Are there any mozilla entries left in the registry? Any GRE folders left in COMMON FILES?
reporter, are you still seeing this? I'll give you a couple of days to respond and mark it WorksForMe afterwards.
