To reproduce:
1. Copy large piece of plain text (say, 3Mb) to system clipboard
2. Start composing a new message in MailNews
3. Paste from clipboard

Mozilla hangs.

Bug 155440 is about Browser, this one is MailNews.

How did you get that much data on the OS/2 clipboard?

Windows too.

I pasted a 4.3 meg file.

Waited 5 minutes.

Neither Windows nor OS/2 recovered.

 Reproduced, although not a permanent hang. Pasting 3Mb of text took 9 minutes
30 seconds on a 2.2GHz 1Gb RAM PC. While this is going on Mozilla is completely
unresponsive in all windows (no repaints, browser windows as well as mail window
hung) but it does come back to life when the paste finishes so there is no
permanent lockup, it's just extremely slow. 

 The most annoying manifestation of this comes when you reply to a message that
has a long text/plain attachment, as all the text of the attachment is pasted
into the reply as a quote and you get the same huge delay (actually almost twice
as long, 15 minutes for the same amount of text as the test above).

for suite, is this wholely fixed by thunderbird bug 324521, or are bits needed for suite?
