User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; et-EE; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; et-EE; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624
OS: Windows 2000 SP4 + latest updates. Please note: I use Mozilla in Estonian
language and therefore there might be some non-English phrases.
I created items into Personal Addressbook. Then I created empty mailinglist
group. I selected necessary items and then I dragged and dropped them onto that
group. Note: some of those inserted contacts did have e-mail address, some not.
I just wanted to create full list of teachers in my school, where I work, and
add e-mail addresses later, when I have installed mail server and created e-mail
addresses for those teachers.
So, when I selected necessary items and tried dragg and drop them onto my
created group, then it just didn't happen! On the status bar Mozilla is writing,
that 46 items were copied but when I check my created mailinglist group - there
is only 18 items: all of them who has e-mail address and one, who doesn't! Why
Mozilla Address Book did copy only one item where is no e-mail address? I could
realize, if Mozilla copied only items with e-mail addresses but Mozilla copied
only one! I tried also that trick: I deleted that created mailinglist group and
created new one. Then I tried to put the same quantity of items into that but
the same thing happened - all items with e-mail addresses and one without. And
that one item without e-mail address is every time I tried that trick,
different. It looks like Mozilla chooses it by randomly.
Then I tried to copy those items without e-mail address, separately - it doesn't
copy! On the status bar it shows: "One item copied" but nothing is really
copied! I just cannot put more items into that created mailinglist group! It's
just amazing!
I remember, when was a problem if I made backup into *.ldif format then Mozilla
1.2.1 (I think it was that version) didn't write file extension: it was just
"backup", not "backup.ldif". Now in Mozilla 1.4 it's fixed - good work! Also I
mentioned, that when I restored my address book from backup - all fields were
restored. When there was Mozilla 1.2.1 then only first page of contact
("Contact") were restored, all other tabs ("Address", "Other") were not
restored, also if I had more, than one e-mail addresses (like 2nd e-mail address
on first tab "Contact") then Mozilla 1.2.1 also has "forgotten" that and didn't
restore it. Now it seems like it has been fixed. Thank you!
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Enter items onto address book, some with e-mail addresses (e.g. at least 20
items) and some without e-mail addresses (e.g. at least 30 items)
2. create empty mailinglist group
3. try all or part of those entered items, both with and without e-mail
addresses, to drag and drop into that newly created mailinglist group. Then
check, does it happened so! Does all of those selected items also consist on
that mailinglist group!
Actual Results:
You can put items with e-mail addresses into group but not all of those without
e-mail addresses items.
Expected Results:
Put all selected items into my newly created group. No matter - does the item
have all fields filled or just name or whatever other field is filled.
I used Mozilla 1.4 final on Windows 2000 SP4 Workstation. I used also installed
Estonian Language Pack installed from *.xpi file -
http://turing.tud.ttu.ee/%7Eirve/et14.xpi and it is also available on Mozilla's
website - http://www.mozilla.org/projects/l10n/mlp_status.html#moz_1.4
I also have installed mouse gesture v0.3.5.1 available here -

Try to import it and try to drag and drop all items where is "Rapla Vesiroosi
Gümnaasium" inserted as organization field try them to drap into created group
"RVG õpetajad"! It just doesn't happen! I couldn't do that!
Edmund, would you mind trying this again with a recent Mozilla build? I'm not
perfectly clear on what your problem is, but I tried with your sample file on
the 20030908 nightly build, and this is what happened: I am able to copy any
number of contacts that DO have email addresses to the group. If I try to copy
ones with NO email address, it does not let me. If I try to copy both at the
same time, all the ones with email addresses are copied, and those without email
addresses are not copied. I do not get the problem you saw where all those with
addresses plus one without were copied. Also, it ALWAYS says "0 cards copied",
which is probably a seperate bug. It this the way you expect it to behave?
Please give this another try and if it works, mark this bug WORKSFORME and
consider opening another one about the "0 cards copied" issue. Thank you.
