User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030712 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030712 I have selected in my font preferences the same font for all text types (serif, sans-serif, etc.). I have also unchecked 'Allow pages to use other fonts'. With these changes, I expect that only the font I selected will be seen in pages. However, when I go to the URL above (Microsoft security bulletin) the bulletin text in the main frame is seen in 'Times New Roman'. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In the font preferences, choose a single font for all text types (serif, sans-serif, etc.). I have reproduced this for example by entering 'Lucida Console' in all places. 2. Also in the font preferences, uncheck 'Allow pages to use other fonts'. 3. Go to URL. Actual Results: The main security bulletin text is seen rendered in 'Times New Roman' (..I think. At least the font is not the one I had selected.) Expected Results: The security bulletin text should have been rendered with the selected font (in my case, 'Lucida Console').
That URL contains: <meta content="text/html;charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type"> It may be that TNR is your only installed font for charset UTF-8, or the only one remaining when your selection doesn't offer UTF-8. TNR is what Netscape 4 does to me on such pages, even though I have selected no serif fonts in prefs, nor allow pages to use other fonts. In trying to repro in W98, I was unable to select Lucida Console for sans-serif, but I did select Lucida Console for serif. "TNR" seemed to be the body text font used only if in font prefs I selected serif for proportional. I got the Arial as selected in prefs for sans-serif when proportional sans-serif was selected. Lucida Console is a monospaced font. Methinks that makes this bug invalid. Reporter, what happens when you select sans-serif for proportional and set your serif and sans-serif to proportional faces?
What encoding did you set your font prefs for? Make sure that you've set them for "Unicode" in addition to "Western" (the latter is the default thing you set in that prefs panel).
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. Marking incomplete. I bet comment 2 is what the issue was, though.
