User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3.1) Gecko/20030425
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3.1) Gecko/20030425

A one-second power outage caused my system to reboot. When the power failed I
had Mail and Browser open. When I opened mail after the reboot it took almost 10
minutes to rebuild my inbox, during which time I did not have access to mail.
The time should be much shorter. I have had rebuild problems one other time but
I am not sure what happened to bring it on.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Run Mail
2. Turn off the computer without exiting windows (simulate power fail)
3. Restart

Actual Results:
Mailbox took a long time to rebuild (10 minutes or more)

Expected Results:
The mailbox should set up like it does under normal conditions, which is quite fast.
How big are your Mail folders ?

-> Databse (msf rebuild)

via mail:
>Inbox is 291 MB (7034 messages). Also notice that I had a large number of
mozilla >newsgroup messages that I have now unsubscribed from.

Could be "normal" if Mozilla must read 291MB to rebuild the index files.
(depends on your system)
BTW: Do you sometimes compact your folders ?
Please try a 1.4 build - this has been sped up a lot. Compacting your folders
will also help.
