User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030715 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030715 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 Usually I run Mozilla Firebird, however since som e settings are not easily available from the GUI in Firebird (and you can't search in the about: -window) I start regular Mozilla (1.4b from May 7th) to change the settings. This time I first changed the homepage in Firebird and then the behaviour when starting the browser/opening new tabs from within Mozilla. After restarting Firebird (I never had both browsers running simultaneously) the global history was empty. Btw, when will Firebird and Camino be able to share history? The lack of shared history between these browsers is IMHO a severe problem. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
You're not supposed to share profiles. INVALID

Then maybe a warning message should be displayed rather than destroying valuable data without prior notice. Just a thought...

http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firebird/release-notes.html#install PLEASE NOTE: You should create a new profile for Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1. To create a new profile, start Mozilla Firebird by running MozillaFirebird.exe -p and click on the "Create Profile" button. You must also delete your old Mozilla Firebird directory rather than just overwriting the files there. Not doing so WILL result in problems and you should not file any bugs on Mozilla Firebird unless you've first done a clean install and tested on a new profile. As Mozilla Firebird stabilizes more this will not be necessary but until then these steps are absolutely necessary. I think that this states it clearly.

I clearly have not been able to communicate the problem. I run Firebird on Mac OS X, and if you read the frontpage of mozilla.org you find this little snippet: 0.6.1 builds for MacOS X are not yet available. The latest MacOS X release is 0.6 I.e., no Firebird 0.6.1 for me. However, what I did was to share the profile between Mozilla (complete) and Firebird - I need to run both browsers since Firebird is too unstable. I guess you can create separate profiles for each browser by hardlinking important files like bookmarks, history etc between the profiles. Anyway this does not avoid the problem with losing data.

The 0.6 release notes contain the same warnings about profiles as 0.6.1. The Mozilla release notes also warn not to share profiles. You just said you're sharing the profile. Therefore, the bug is invalid.
