Firebird loaded, attempts to connect, and errors out in xpcom.dll
I have Moz 1.4 on the machine. Works at office on Win2000
Reproducible: Always

Just try a clean reinstall. Delete the mozillafirebird program directory and the
phoenix profile directory. Then reinstall.

removed the two directories, and re-installed. Still the same problem.
Larry, which version did you re-install? If you re-installed the old late-June
version I'd kindly ask you to always use the latest nightly build when reporting
bugs in order to get comperable results. It doesn't make sense if you report a
bug for a +1 month old build and someone else tells you "this works for me with
latest nightly".
So please try again with latest nightly, installed in a _new_ directory together
with vanilla profile (without copying anything from you old profile!) and report
back with any results you get.

Larry, have you installed the current build from
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firebird/nightly/latest-trunk/ like Erik and I asked
you to?
