When it eventually recovered, all my mail had vanished. Closing down and restarting hasn't helped. The mail files themselves seem to be there (i.e. they're not 0kb) but Thunderbird doesn't appear to be seeing them. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Thunderbird version 0.1a (20030716)
what does your mail profile directory look like? can you expand the folders underneath it and attach a screen shot? If the mail folders are there, we should be displaying them. Do we display the folders in the folder pane, and just not the messages when you select a folder?
All the mail folders are there in Thunderbird, they just appear to be empty when you click on them (same for all accounts). The two directories shown in the screen shot are both empty.
the only non empty folder I see is the Jamie one - does that have messages in it? For all the other folders, I don't even see folder files. Do you have a virus checker running on your machine?
I've changed the URL for a second image that shows the larger files in the directory. I do have a virus checker on my machine, but I have it on manual mode so that it doesn't scan things until I tell it to (which I do every few days).
is this still occuring? I don't know what could be going on here, other than accidentally getting switched to a view that's empty, e.g., view "unread"

> getting switched to a view that's empty What a suggestion! I had a look round and found view->threads - it was on unread (how, I don't know, as I didn't even know it was there). I set it to "all" and my mail came back! I now feel very dim, but at least it's another mystery solved!:)

don't feel too bad - you're not the first person this has happened to. We really need to display some text in the message list when the view is not the default, and is empty.
Thanks! I'm a programmer myself, yet I always seem to miss the obvious things - I always seem to assume the worst (as it usually is with my programs:p)!
