User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130
Build Identifier: Mozilla 1.4
A friend with a Mac sent me a jpg file. Mozila 1.4 did not display it and when
I saved it to disk 1.4 never finished saving it. The file was always "in use".
I saved the email and the problem reproduces every time I try to view it.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open an email with a jpg attachment from a MAC
2.Save the .jpg to disk
3.
Actual Results:
Verify that the file always remains "in use" by trying to delete it. Verify
that a paint program cannot display.
Expected Results:
Going back to 1.21 everything is OK and I can save the file and view it.

With what email-program was this file sent ? Did you happen the know the
encoding method that this program used ? Try opening the source-code of that
mail in question (not the image !), there should be some readable information at
the top, before the binary data begins.
PS : you're going back because you can't open a single image ? All this for a
problem that's might be caused by the /other/ mail-application ?

To answer the comment: I have the email and can demonstrate that 1.2.1 works
and 1.4 doesn't. I have since noticed an html email from ING Direct in which
the images refused to open in 1.4 and were just fine in 1.2.1. I can forward
the emails to whoever wants to test this. But I'll bet that this problem is
becoming very apparent to all.

Can you attach your email to this bug, or email me a copy? There is a theory
that this could be related to bug 217104, and I'd like to investigate this
possibility.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
