If I middle click or crtl click or select open in new tab from the context menu on a pdf file it 
gives me an About:Blank

worksforme with Mozilla win32 build 2004022909 on winXP. Opening a pdf from a
google search result
<http://www.google.com/search?q=athena%20IDD%20pdf&btnG=Google+Search> into a
second tab works fine.
