Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030516 Mozilla Firebird/0.6

In the page www.asat.co.il/forum I am trying to post a new message.
If I select a text in a text window and then try to make it bold or underline or
other option of this kind the selected text is not enclosed in new brackets of
html code but the brackets appear at the end of the whole text.
Moreover when I just click on the combobox with the colors options, without yet
selecting one, the marked text is no longer marked!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.post a new message
2.select a text
3.try to make it bold

Actual Results:
the text is not enclosed in brackets

Expected Results:
enclose the text in brackets

not just firebird.
can reproduce this on winXP 2003-09-10
--> Browser: DOM level 0

I stripped away all the HTML & CSS, but am too tired to reduce the javaScript
any further. I can post the file if it would help.

Seems to be the test:

function storeCaret(textEl) {
	if (textEl.createTextRange) <- this is false in mozilla, but true in IE

fails, and that screws the rest of the javascript.

Don't know where to get a full description of official javascript standards, so
can't do any more about it.

That page says that "the TextRange object... is only available on Win32
platforms (Internet Explorer 4.0x)"

That would suggest this bug is invalid/tech evangelism.

I honestly don't know anything about TextRange, so I'm reluctant to resolve this
bug unless I see something a bit more official about accepted JavaScript standards.
