After a while (~15-30 minutes) of browsing, suddenly I can't write anything to
location field or search field, or any web page text field. Nothing else is
weird at the time.
Browsers Firebird 0.4-0.6 and Mozilla browser 1.1 ->
No common web page, just wherever.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
Browse for a while.
Actual Results:
No cursor. Can't input text with keyboard, but can with mouse paste (but can't
paint with mouse).
Happens with several themes, also default theme. No similar problems with any
other program.
Happens only on linux, but on at least three different boxes; with Debian woody,
sarge and RH9. Also KDE 2 and 3, IceWM and WindowMaker. Kernels 2.4.18, 2.4.20,
2.6.0-test1. Xfree86 4.1.0 and 4.3.0.

I can confirm similar symptoms. From what I have seen, Mozilla 1.2-1.4 (at least
those from Red Hat and Debian stable/unstable) have not exhibited symptoms of
this, but the problem definitely exists in Moz 1.5b (tar.gz from mozilla.org)
and Firebird 0.6 (mozilla.org tar.gz and Debian unstable). After browsing for a
random time, sometimes minutes, sometimes hours, all text input widgets suddenly
seem to go dead. They repaint if you switch tabs then switch back, but other
than that I cannot select or edit text in them. I tried opening a new tab or
window, but I also unable to type in that window's location bar. Bookmarks do
work, however. I have not attempted a mouse paste, I will try next time it
happens to me and report back. *Sometimes* if I click around a lot, I can
restore functionality, but I have not yet identified a pattern and in most cases
I have to close all browser windows and re-open Mozilla. I am currently running
Debian Woody with Gtk2.0 (from Libranet 2.7) and Mozilla 1.5b (build 2003082705
from mozilla.org).
Intuitively this seems like a problem with the Gtk integration, as I believe
Mozilla now uses native Gtk widgets, however I haven't hacked on Mozilla source
in a long while, so perhaps I don't know what I am talking about...
I agree that this is a critical bug; it might as well crash the browser, for all
the functionality it leaves me with after it happens.

I've been seeing this for a while. Mostly on linux, but occasionaly on windows.
I haven't seen it in windows for a very long time thuough (since way way before
firebird). I've found once in a while minimizing or shading the window and then
bringing it back will fix it.
I also can't figure out any pattern for when it happens. It seems completely
random.

Is this still happening with a current nightly build from
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firebird/nightly/latest-trunk and a fresh
profile?
