Steps to reproduce: 1) Copy any hypertext anchor (link) from any web page using contextual menu of Mac OS ("Copy link location" at the bottom of the menu). 2) Paste this link in browser location field or any other text input field of a page with HTML input form with keyboard combo. ==> When link is pasted, it's followed by missing char symbols and garbage. Mac (12-13-08-M12 bld) specific.
OS: Mac System 8.6 → All

This turned out to be a XP problem where anything copied (contextual menu or KB combo to copy) is duplicated in clip board (or equivalent) and shows up when pasted. Revising summary and platform info. bld: Win 12-14-09-M12, Mac 12-14-08-M12, Linux 12-14-08-M12

Just checked in a fix
Here is what I noticeed with this evening's commercial build (15th, 6pm). I do a Copy Link Location. Then I do paste in URL location. No problem. It works fine. Then I tried to paste the same in any of the input fields. Nothing gets copied. Then when I do a Copy Link Location and try to paste the same in any of the input text fields. It doesn't copy anything. Then if I try to paste the location in the url bar..it pastes the location fine. Is the fix made only for url location field..? Is that the scope of this bug ? I have noticed saari checked in the code at 2pm. The commercial build I tested, I hope, must have got his changes. I'm building mozilla now. When it's done, I will provide more updates.
This happens on today's build as well - Windows 1999121608 CopyLinklocation works and we can use paste to the location url. but it doesnt work on the input edit fields in they page Any other copy does work thou while pasting on to the field. While right clicking on the page the "copy" choice is greyed out and we cant select it. We have to do a Ctrl C and then do a paste. We cant do a Edit Copy either because that is greyed out too. Should this bug be closed and should another be opened for the other problems or is there already a bug for that.
When verifying fix on this, make sure to copy and paste twice (or more) in the same location. The problem always happens second time on (First copy and paste worked fine in original test environment).
