on indicated page there is a button "download" next to version 2.3. Clicking
that button you get to a page with "download the setup wizard". Clicking that
gets you to a page with a list of mirrors. The download should automatically
start. If not you should be able to start it manually. This works correctly with
MS IE; but not with Mozilla 1.4 (at least for me). I cannot make the download to
start. This is similar to bug 152241, except that that bug refers to the Mac
platform. The same thing occured when I tried to download Sun's Java 2 SDK (I
succeeded with MS IE)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to indicated page
2. next to version 2.3 press "download@
3. on line 2 press "download setup wizard"
4. choose mirror and the download should start (but it doesn't)

Actual Results:  
Nothing

Expected Results:  
Initiate the download

All information has been supplied. Except that my hardware platform is IBM
Thinkpad A31p

I´ve got a cookie from sourceforge, so I´m automatically redirected to a mirror,
and the download box pops up asking to acknowledge download of setup.exe.

Could you retry with popups unblocked for all sites, as there are some on the
way to the final download location?

WFM also in 1.4, winxp.  Reporter, do you have any external download managers
installed?  What happens if  you right-click on the link under "Your download
should begin shortly..." and select "Save link target as?"

I followed your advice (Edit->Preferences->Privacy & Security->Popup Windows ->
erase checkmark at "Block unrequested popup windows"; but the result is the
same: download not initiated; manual download (by right-clicking indicated
address and selecting "Save link target as...") also does not work.

Attachment: List of installed software

This attachement refers to the query in Comment #2 whether I have external
download managers installed. Since I am not sure I would recognize such
software, I am sending complete list of installed software

Bostjan, try creating a new profile.  Go to Tools --> Switch Profile... and if
only the one profile exists, hit Manage Profiles and create a new one.  Try
using it to download the same file.  

BTW, I didn't see any download managers in the list.  Does this problem occur
with any other downloads, wheter from sourceforge or anywhere else?

I solved the problem by reinstalling Mozilla. Unfortunately, I was not able to
discover the cause of the original problem.
