Very useful when reading lots of mailing lists, to make the folder clean by automatically deleting messages older than nn days. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
This would restore the behavior of the NC 4.xx series suite. All the news account preferences now on a per server basis were then available on a per group subscribed basis. Will provide more frequent clearing of stale headers from highly active group subscriptions. Resulting in faster TB loading from less stuff having to be hauled off the HDD. Added benifit may be relate to flaging selected groups from a server for off line reading
this is in 1.5 right now.
David, you are right from a server point of view. What Will be more usefull is a per group retention in the manner of the Netscape Com 4.xx and prior. I have group subscriptions for which a long retention is needed. That need requires that with TB I have to keep a lot of SPAM replys in another group, or cut my priority retention to a duration that is unacceptable. Please re-evaluate the status of this bug, even if it is to future it, as it is a good long term goal that will improve the flexability of TB. If this original enhacment will not be reopened to address this request then It should be made a new bug.
1.5 has per-group retention policies - I don't understand what Netscape communicator has that TB 1.5 doesn't.
I do not know with which release per group retention was added to the group properties dropw down. However, it now exists and provieds the options of the old NC 4.xx suite. Therefor this RFI is FIXED from my point of view.
