"Send later" button is not automatically appearing in compose window. regardless of it is offline or online both send later, and send now option should be always present. People with dialup want to write all mails at once and then go online to send them. And this is a major issue for them for switching from outlook to thunderbird Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Close all instance od thunderbird 2. Disconnect the internet connection 3. restart thunderbird 4. open compose window 5. write something 6. Try to send

IMO, Thunderbird should detect whether the computer is connected to the Internet or not (without any user intervention to switch) and display the appropriate toolbar button automatically. ('Send Later' when you are actually connected is fairly rare behaviour, so I don't see that it necessarily needs a toolbar button by default.)
Or it should be like this. When you press send the mail should go to outbox and actual send happen from outbox in background Outlook is doing it like that, and people are familiar to that
(In reply to comment #1) > IMO, Thunderbird should detect whether the computer is connected to the > Internet or not IMO, it should not detect online-ness, because it can only get it right if the dialup happens on the local computer. In setups with external ISDN routers or somesuch in a small LAN Thunderbird would detect the LAN and assume the computer to be online. Trying to reach the internet wouldn't help either, because this could potentially trigger auto-dialling.
Can't an option be added somewhere to say send immediately, send on next connect, or send with next send & receive like in Outlook. I don't like when e-mail leaves immediately. I am always connected so the send later button never shows up, and I sometimes forget that TB doesn't put the e-mail in my out box like Outlook did.
