Extensions installed such as TBE?
What is the error message in question?

I don't believe this is going to be a bug in Firebird, but more info would be good.

Friend of mine using FB 0.7 RC2 is seeing this exact same bug

suggest fixing prior to 0.7

Asa, please add this to blocking 0.7+
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Severity: minor → blocker
Priority: -- → P1
Target Milestone: --- → Firebird0.7
Works for me using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5)
Gecko/20030925 Firebird/0.7 and the same version of Yahoo Messenger in the
initial bug report.

Unless you are the developer or part of the QA team, don't mess with
priorities/blocker status/target milestone. This will not be fixed for 0.7, for
the following reasons:

1) this is anything but a blocker bug. Limited confirmation, only two people
known to experience it, and linked to a specific third party application. Its
not a frequent crasher/dataloss bug, nor is it extremely high-visibility. One
or both of those criteria would be needed to hold back the release at this
stage, especially for a pre-1.0 milestone.

2) Much more serious/visible bugs were already pushed to 0.8 due to lack of time
to fix before release. 0.7 is still pre-1.0, there's plenty of time to fix
minor bugs before 1.0.

3) since this works fine for others, information on installed extensions,
testing on a clean profile, and information on the pages that appear (always the
same? if its multiple tabs, are they always the same tabs?) is absolutely
required to effectively triage and/or confirm the bug. This might not and very
likely is not a bug in the default build of Firebird. It could be a system
issue or an extension acting up. Neither is an actual bug in Firebird, and the
bug should not be confirmed until such time as it can be replicated under
controlled and appropriate conditions.

confirmed Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031003
Firebird/0.7 with a slew of extensions.

For me, the second tab is http://www.google.com/search?btnG=Google+Search&q=47
meaning it did a URL of 47, which FB didn't understand so it did a search.
Perhaps for the initial reporter it did an I Feel Lucky (the default).

Steps to reproduce
1) close FB
2) run YIM
3) get new mail
4) click on pop-up or the the mail icon in the tray
5) 3 tabs popped up
Confirmed with a clean dir and new profile.

My popup says www.%26r=8g%26lg=us%26=intl=us&.t=t=z=zaig (which unescaped is
www.&r=8g&lg=us&=intl=us&.t=t=z=zaig)

The middle tab went to http://www.black47.com/ confirming that its doing the
default search.
Confirmed on Firebird/0.7+ latest win32 (10/02?)

Yahoo Messenger 5, 6, 0, 1339
MyYahoo Module 5,6,0,500

I wonder if this changed when yahoo recently changed their protocol.
works fine with the browser already open. Next stop ... seamonkey
WFM Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20031003
However, it WFM Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5)
Gecko/20031003 Firebird/0.7
if I uncheck the "Automatically sign me in to Yahoo Mail, Address Book and
Calendar when I click on a link to them from Messenger."

So it could be something about it trying to pass the URL

<url removed>

okay, the bug is in yahoo's URL that it passes to Firebird to log into mail,
since it contains | characters, which Firebird interprets as separators.
Really, since | is a valid character (RFC 2396 doesn't reserve it, I verified
with darin on IRC) Firebird is in the wrong here.

Either we need to send multiple homepage URLs to multiple prefs, with an
integer pref for how many are currently set (since if we go from 4 to 3, we
couldn't delete browser.homepage.URL.4, just limit the loop to the number of
active homepages) or we need to come up with a different separator that's not a
valid URI character and can still be passed to Firebird on startup, however I'm
not sure if we need to support multiple pages from external apps/command line

The workaround is to open Firebird before checking mail.

also, removing reporter/cc list visibility for now
