It would be more friendly if the Edit->Preferences
session would have an 'Apply' (without discard dialog) button
in addition to the 'OK' one.

Currently, there's a usability problem when a multiple click
session to navigate to a certain preference option gets lost
every time 'OK' is clicked and users have to repeat the whole
multiple click process every time they get something wrong.

Example: to change proxy settings:
Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Proxies->Edit some value->click OK
dialog window gets discarded and the whole process needs to be
repeated.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. See example above
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Dialog window gets discarded forcing me to go through the
whole process again if I got the value wrong the in first try.

Expected Results:
Have an 'Apply' button which will do what 'OK' does now
but without discarding the dialog.
You don't need to do OK for every preferences page you do changes on. Just press
ok after you did _all_ the changes.

Apply is bug 42339.
