Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de-AT; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624
This bug shares some symptoms with 189925.
1. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624
When I install "calendar_windows_1.4_20030804.xpi" on a brand new mozilla 1.4,
the calendar won't show up, and mozilla windows shows this error message at the
bottom, the first "key" is marked:
<key id= "Key_calendar" key="&calendarCmd.commandkey;" command="Tasks:Calendar" ..I
--^
2. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de-AT; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624
When I install "calendar_windows_1.4_20030804.xpi" on a brand new mozilla 1.4,
after a german (or XY) localization, a calendar translated to german shows up,
but all buttons and menus are dead, and the calendar windows crashes after closing.
By the way, how can I uninstall this buggy extension? I alway start from the
scratch. The calendar never worked for me - I've tried three different releases
so far : /
Reproducible: Always

On Windows 2000, SP 3, German :
1. Install Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624

Actual Results:
On original US Mozilla:
Error in Mozilla Windows:
<key id= "Key_calendar" key="&calendarCmd.commandkey;" ...
--^
On german (or XY) localized Mozilla:
a calendar translated to german shows up, but all buttons
and menus are dead, and the calendar windows crashes after
closing:
Die Anweisung in "0x007400a8" verweist auf Speicher in "0x00090000" Der Vorgang
"written" konnte nicht auf dem Speicher durchgeführt werden.
Expected Results:
After Installing calendar on a non localizes mozilla I expect an english
calendar with a few bugs.
After Installing calendar on a german (or XY) localizes mozilla I expect an
english calendar with a few bugs, because I want to localize the calendar on my
own. If a german calendar shows up, that works, it would be fine as well ; )
I can copy the mentioned behaviour:
after installing calendar build 2004-01-09 for netscape 7.1/win (as
administrator) and restarting netscape, the error message
<key id= "Key_calendar" key="&calendarCmd.commandkey;" command="Tasks:Calendar" ...
appears as part of the status bar of the netscape window.
also, the edit | preferences dialog is completely broken, too
seen on: windows 2000, sp4, german

Same error with english Mozilla 1.7 [ Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1;
en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040616 ], on a german WindowsXP SP1. Please see the
attached screenshot.
I remember that when I first tried the Mozilla Calendar, about 0.5-1 years ago,
I had the same error, but I had quit very fast, wasn't so dogged like now.
Thougt I'll give it one more try.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the Calendar version used: calendar_windows_20040622.xpi
Like mephinet reported, Mozilla does not hang, but the "Preferences" dialog is
broken.
I'm offering myself as "front-line" tester for this bug, I'm very interested to
see Calendar at least starting on my machine.
two guesses:
- type about:config in the url bar, then "locale" in the search bar.
Is the general.useragent.locale en-US ? is intl.locale.matchOS false?
- is this a clean install into a new/empty directory?
(may have leftover old files interfering, uninstall may not remove everything)

general.useragent.contentlocale US
general.useragent.locale en-US
intl.locale.matchOS false
Installation is NOT fresh, I'll try to do a fresh install somewhere else.

Test on a cleaned-up computer (uninstalled, deleted Mozilla and Talkback
directories, searched for and deleted all registry entried) with WinXP SP1,
Mozilla and Calendar version like already described: works OK.
I can see and use Calendar, and I like it. Will try to unistall, cleanup and
reinstall Mozilla on my main computer (but it's tricky, 11 mailboxes incl.
settings to preserve).
PS
Is there a way/procedure to safely uninstall Calendar?

Now works-for-me too.
* Last week have installed Calendar on a 3rd machine with fresh Mozilla install: OK.
* Yesterday spent some hours with Mozilla backup, full uninstall/erase,
reinstall, and settings/email import on my laptop: YES, Calendar works now on my
laptop too (that historical installation, ~2 years old profile).
I had now 3 successful Calendar installs on fresh/cleaned Mozilla installs out
of 3, please close the bug.
