Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030827
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030827

Installed Mozilla 1.5beta on top of Mozilla 1.4. Mozilla 1.4 worked properly
and settings for bookmarks, mail/news accounts recognized properly in Mozilla
1.5beta. However, when sending mail (or sending mail to newsgroups with copies
to an IMAP mail server), Mozilla reseponds with message:

"the current command did not succeed. the mail server responded: Append
failed: Can't append to mailbox .mailSent: no such mailbox."

Note that Mozilla thinks the folder name is .mailSent, whereas I would think it
would be .mail/Sent ... is the slash missing? This the bug?

But there is such a box in the folder /home/rmschne/.mail which is where it has
always been there. Access to this folde works ok with MIcrosoft Outlook Express
(proving the IMAP server is functioning proprly

Am unable to view contents of any folders in the .mail subdirectory. Can see
list when attempting to resubscribe, but can't access them. Same error as as
reported above.

Inbox is visible and can be accessed. NOt sure why this is.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. trying to read contents of IMAP folders, or ...
2. sending mail or newsgroups where Mozilla is configured to save to a IMAP folder
3.

Actual Results:
As reported obove

Expected Results:
Viewed contents of the folders
On the relevant IMAP server, Server Settings, Advanced Button, when I changed
the IMAP server directory from ".mail" (which worked in Mozilla 1.41) to
".mail/" (forward slash), I am able to have the copies of mail and newsgroup
postings go to the correct folder.

The "bug" seems to be that Mozilla 1.4 worked without a trailing slash, whereas
Mozilla 1.5 requiress a trailing forward slash.

Note: this is on Windows XP. My hunch is that most Windows users will expect to
have a backslash work. It doesn't.

Recommendation: make 1.5 work like 1.4 did, e.g. if slash missing, have Mozilla
provide it (as it's implied by giving a folder name).

*If* it is required that user specify a trailing slash, then make it possible to
use either a forward or backward slash to avoid user confusion. Also, make a
change to the 1.5 upgrade scripts to add this configuration into the user's setup.
Summary: Mozilla 1.5beta doesn't recognized IMAP mail folder correctly to read folder contents or copy to → Mozilla 1.5beta requires trailing slash on IMAP folder name, whereas previous versions did not
