User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030714 Debian/1.4-2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030714 Debian/1.4-2

I'm sorry I can't give a repeatable test case for this. After a while,
autocompletion in the address bar stops working. I just never see a list
of earlier URLs as I type anymore. This happens even if I move my .mozilla
directory away so that a fresh one is created.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Sorry, I can't describe *how* to reproduce the problem, but every mozilla
instance I use ends up displaying this behavior permanently.

Actual Results:
Mozilla fails to autocomplete URLs.

Expected Results:
It should continue to provide the autocompletion facility until the
heat death of the universe.
Under Edit | Preferences | History, what's the value of 'Remember pages visited
for the last 'n' days'?
Edit->Preferences->History says "remember preferences for the last 9 days."

Something else which may be relevant: If I try to change this to 200, click OK,
then reopen the preferences window, it still says 9 days.
Severity: minor → enhancement
Do you have relevant history entries in Go | History (and in the Go dropdown
menu item)? URL bar autocompletion depends on History, so that's the first part
of this I'd look at...
Good call: the history window is empty. Here are the particulars of the
history files:

cov% find .mozilla/ -name \*history\* -exec ls -lt '{}' \;
-rw-r--r-- 1 alex_c foo 24962 Sep 1 08:59 .mozilla/Default
User/cxmpjp7w.slt/history.dat
-rw-r--r-- 1 alex_c foo 142602 Sep 2 14:25 .mozilla/Default
User/cxmpjp7w.slt/history.txt

history.txt contains URLs from today, but not the most current ones. Not sure
how that could be. The last URL listed in history.dat is months old.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
