User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 It seems that mozilla really can't resolve the hostname. After typing the hotmail url, the actual url is: <http://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?id=2>; then, the login info is sent with the https protocol [same server, it seems]. No cookie is (supposedly) involved, since I checked the tickbox for public computer. The same kind of problem occurs when I try to access my RedHat Network (Demo) account [https://rhn.redhat.com] : Mozilla says it cannot resolve the host [Mozilla 1.4 for linux and Konqueror 3.05a also are unable to resolve the host]. I connect to the internet through a http 1.1 proxy. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.go to http://www.hotmail.com/ 2.fill in login info [should I create a dummy account to let you do that]; 3.check the tickbox for "Do not remember my e-mail address for future sign-in. (Select this when using a public computer.)", and clicking "Sign In". Actual Results: A message box pops up saying: "loginnet.passport.com not found. Please check the name and try again". Expected Results: Login into my mailbox. my feeling is that the problem has to do with https or redirection, possibly the their combination.
Do you have the proxy in the Mozilla proxy settings as SSL Proxy ?
Configuring the proxy as a SSL proxy in the Mozilla Proxy Settings resolves the problem, thanks Matti; I am sorry, i see now that i should have contacted the support team instead. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you guys.
