User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030728 Mozilla Firebird/0.6.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030728 Mozilla Firebird/0.6.1 A background tab that timesout on opening a page loses the URL and reverts to about:blank. If you open a background tab either by CTRL-T and typing a URL in, or CTRL-LMB on a link in your current tab, and the page cannot be found (speling mistake, or server down, or slow connection), then the URL lost and the tab will only have about:blank. Often you do a simple spelling mistake, and it fails to load then you have to retype the url in again, rather than just editing it. Worse is when you are reading a page, and you open some interesting looking links in the background for later reading, then you close the page. Any pages that timeout have their URLs lost, and you have to reopen the first page again and reclick. Or if you are typing a URL in a tab, and the tab loses focus to another tab, anything you have typed is lost. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. misspell a URL in a tab 2. goto another tab 3. when the timeout message happens go back to original tab 4. the URL will be replaced by about:blank Actual Results: The URL was replaced by about:blank Expected Results: Kept the URL as typed (or as clicked on with CTRL, or right clicked with open in new tab) so it can be edited or resubmitted. This can be summed up as "don't lose information in the address bar, it's just plain rude!"
