wfm Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030906 Shockwave
Flash 6.0 r79
maybe it is a multizilla problem?

Answer for Matthias (comment #2): flashplayer.xpt is in my components dir.
I cannot verify the the Multizilla issue right now: my win2k laptop + browser is
used for daily work, today I do not have the time to figure out, how to remove
safely multizilla. I will try this soon, however.
I have tried to install multizilla on my Linux browser on my Linux box at home
to check if the problem is indeed Multizilla related, however,
multizilla.mozdev.org is temporarily shut down for remembrance of 911. Maybe
tomorrow :-(

The indexpage of the multizilla site is still switched off, but I have found
their FAQ page by Google, and I have uninstalled multizilla.
The bug has not disappeared, unfortunately.

Since I have realized that no site with flash worked anymore in my browser,
therefore I have uninstalled Mozilla.
Then I deleted the still remaining files,
then unistalled all FlashPlayers, then reinstalled Mozilla from scratch, then
downloaded FlashPlayer remover from Macromedia, then reinstalled FlashPlayer
from scratch (NOT using the outdated flash installer on pluginsdoc.mozdev.org!),
then Mozilla crashed several times, then I have re-installed Mozilla several
times,then....
As a summary, after wasting one hour with reisntallign from scratch and with
crashing xpi installers --- now it seems to work fine.
Clearly, the upgrading process needs improvement in Mozilla... :-(
