I like the setting for checking mail at startup, but there should not be a error
message poping up if I am not connected to the internet. Instead, a message
could be shown in the status bar.

Forgot to mention that I am using: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.2 (20030901)
Additionally, the server should not be queried until a connection is made even
if the settings are to query at certain intervals.
