User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030827 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030827 I used to be able to print PDF files, from either the Web or my HD, with Moz 1.4, with my HP 932c printer (and AcroRead 6.0). Now, with either Moz 1.4 or 1.5b, (clicking the Acroread 'Print' icon in the browser,) when thereafter I click 'OK' in the printer page=selection-and-number=of=copies window, I'm told, every time, that file 'spool32' has died; and I can't print the PDF file and other things don't work right -- until I rerun Windows SE. (Note: After installing Moz 1.5b, I assumed all the plugins I had used with 1.4 were compatible with 1.5b, and just copied all of them into the 1.5b Plugin folder.) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Display any PDF file in Moz, from either the Web or your HD. 2. Click the AcroRead 'Print' icon 3. After selecting, in the resultant window, the pages and the number of copies to print, click 'OK' in that window. Actual Results: A Windows window that tells you 'spool32' is dead, you can't print, and other things don't work right -- until Windows is rerun. Expected Results: No error window should've displayed, the PDF file should've printed properly and no other problems with Windows and/or applications used with it should've malfunctioned. If Moz hasn't wrecked things, as described above, such printing works OK, from either the Web or my HD, with Netscape 4.8, and from my HD with AcroRead 6.0 directly without a browser; otherwise such printing doesn't work either.

Going back in Moz as far as 1.2.1, I experience this same problem with the mentioned two PDF files, one on the Web and one on my HD. OTOH, none of the Moz versions I have, from 1.2.1 up through 1.5b, experience this problem with this PDF file: http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/data2/circs/9th/0356498p.pdf The file on my HD is a copy of this file: http://www.eudora.com/download/eudora/windows/6.0/Eudora_6_New_Features.pdf Ray

Any chance this is related to bug# 207417? Maybe Win98 is just throwing up more information about the problem?

My experience with many Mozilla versions is: when you try to print using the menu or the print button in Mozilla, it crashes. But when you print using the print button of the Acroread window, it works OK. Maybe this is something that should be fixed, but it has not very high priority. I presume the print button has to send some kind of message to Acrobat reader in this case (to tell it to print the document) and that this does not always work properly.
