okay, this might be a dup of bug 21947 (or viceversa?), but... cannot turn off autoloading of images in the browser --images are *always* loaded. i've marked this as critical --however, if this is something that simply won't be implemented till a later milestone/beta, then this Prefs > Advanced feature should just be greyed out so as to avoid user confusion. :-) tested with 1999121508/9. 1. open a page with images (sample url above), the images are there. 2. go to the Prefs > Advanced tab. the checkbox for "Automatically load images" is not selected. (expected: it should be checked.) maybe i need to just select, then deselect, but...: 3. select the checkbox, click OK for the Prefs dialog. 4. reopen Prefs, go to Advanced and deselected that checkbox. 5. click OK. go to another webpage with images (eg, http://www.photomania.net/) expected: no images should load result: images still load

Not critical, no-one gets hurt (except perhaps in the wallet) Major could be justified, otherwise Severity=Normal
In order for Mozilla to be adopted at our site this option is going to be needed. For us it is quite critical. Each department is charged for net usage and many people turn off image loading so thye don't have to pay for stuff they don't need to see, especially since we are a university and most web browsing is for information, not images. I'd be interested in looking into this one, if someone could point me in the right direction and maybe give me some ideas about how it should be done. I'm not a moz hacker, I've just tampered with bits of it's code for my own stuff.

I like the URL :-) but this will not be fixed for beta. It will be fixed for final release though I'm sure.

Matt, is the API and/or functionality in place to implement this pref? If not, to whom should this be assigned?

Will this be fixed by beta2?
Clearing beta1 nomination (and PDT-) and nominating for beta2. I think this is an important feature for users with slow connections.

Critical == `crashes, loss of data, severe memory leak'. This ain't critical. It's just major.
Severity: critical → major
Keywords: beta2
Summary: Cannot turn off autoloading of images → Cannot turn off auto-loading of images

This is working for me great, Linux. Marking so, please reopen if you disagree. I'm using the advanced/cookies-and-images/do-not-load-any-images option.
