Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20030708
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20030708

When I use the command "Delete" with the Mozilla's mail manager to clean the
Trash or Sent directories (and the other directories in fact ...), it appears
that everything is ok.

But, in fact, when I go to the directory

.mozilla/dellache/pi3bt3lw.slt/Mail/omega.crm.umontreal.ca

to control the size of each file, nothing has changed !!! Then, the size of the
files Sent, Trash, ... becomes more and more important and I have to clean with
my hands !!! (i.e. by doing the shell command rm Trash or rm sent in the
directory .mozilla/dellache/pi3bt3lw.slt/Mail/omega.crm.umontreal.ca)

How to solve this bug ?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Delete all the files in the Trash with Mozilla's mail Manager
2.go in the directory .mozilla/... where is your Mozilla file Trash (for me, it
is the directory .mozilla/dellache/pi3bt3lw.slt/Mail/omega.crm.umontreal.ca)
3.Verify that nothing has change in the file Trash although the Mozilla's mail
manager afirms that there are no e-mails in the directory Trash

Actual Results:
The size of the directory

.mozilla/dellache/pi3bt3lw.slt/Mail/omega.crm.umontreal.ca

can only be changeg by destroying the files Trash, Sent, ... with the shell
command rm Trash, rm Sent, ... .

Expected Results:
Mozilla should have make the size of the file Trash equal to zero, as it seems
to be the case by looking the Trash directory in the Mozilla's mail manager !!!

Thank you very much for your help.
Are you using POP3? If so, you should use the Compact feature, or even better,
the Auto-Compact feature.
-> invalid (no bug)

Use Compress folder and/or edit\preferences\Offline & Disk Space...
