I have many, many IMAP folders.  I curently have to right click on each, go
properties, go 'Check this folder for new messages', and press OK on every one
of them.  (I use procmail to put mail into all the folders).

I suggest adding another tickable column in the subscribe list.  eg:

Name    Subscribe    Check for mail

Or something like that.  I think it may even be wise to make the default to
check all folders, and you have to turn it off on some - otherwise it's too easy
to not notice new mail.
