After some time, my installation of Mozilla 1.4 stopped displaying the download
manager, nor will it download any files. When I first installed Mozilla, the
download manager worked fine. When I click on the Tools->Download Manager menu
option, the following error message appears on the Javascript Console:
Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code:
0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult:
"0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame ::
chrome://communicator/content/tasksOverlay.js :: toDownloadManager :: line 51"
data: no]
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Goto Tools->Download Manager or try to download a file
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Mozilla did nothing, and the error message mentioned above appeared on the
Javascript Console
Expected Results:
It should have begun a file download, or it should have opened the Download Manager.

After reinstalling Mozilla, this problem was fixed. I was able to keep my old
profile information from the old installation, so the problem was not related to
anything in the user profiles. I think this problem might have been caused when
I set Mozilla to be my default mail handler using the Set Program Access and
Defaults utility provided by Microsoft, suring which time I saw the Mozilla
installer pop up for a second, but then disappeared, however I can't recall
exactly if it was after that the download manager stopped functioning.
